Batik, Painting Cultural Heritage

Batik is an Indonesian cultural heritage that has a high value and blend of art, full of philosophical meanings and meaningful symbols that show the way of thinking of the people making it. Batik is a craft that has been part of Indonesian culture - especially Java - since long ago. Batik skills were used as livelihoods and exclusive work for Javanese women at that time.

The batik tradition was originally a hereditary tradition, so that the motif of batikan can be recognized and become a pattern or motif of a family or a certain area. The motif of batikan can also show social status in the community. The development of batik in Indonesia culminated on October 2, 2009 with the events of UNESCO establishing Indonesian Batik as a masterpiece of humanitarian heritage for oral and non-cultural heritage, namely international recognition that Indonesian batik is part of the wealth of human civilization.

To get to know more about batik and how to make it, today you will be invited to see the process of making batik. Yogyakarta is a city where traditional and modern merge into one. On one side there are many city hotels and other high buildings, but on the other side you can feel the magnificent atmosphere of the ancient buildings by visiting Borobudur and Prambanan Temples. The combination between modern and history blends perfectly well and allows tourists to enjoy both.
