This evening you’ll enjoy an authentic local experience at Jogjakarta with angkringan style' foods. This is a street stalls where you get to enjoy your coffee or food while sitting down on the carpet laid out under the tent along the street. It's an experience you shall not forget.
The highlights of this streets food is Kopi jos (charcoal coffee). Its name comes from the sizzling sound a burning lump of charcoal makes upon hitting the liquid. Some say the bubbling beverage tastes like regular coffee, while others describe a distinct caramel-y, burnt sugar taste.
Then you walk across the railroad to Malioboro streets. At night, the street comes alive with buying and selling activities. Food stalls, batik ateliers, souvenir shops and some colonial buildings, follow one another in this two km of road.
Continue your trip using “becak” traditional transportation to wijilan road. Taste the iconic traditional dish of Jogjakarta which is identical with sweet taste called “gudeg”, young jackfruit cooked together with coconut milk and many traditional spices. Gudeg is usually served with hot krecek (cow skin), telur pindang (egg), tahu and tempe bacem (soya cake), ayam opor or bacem (chicken), and areh gurih (coconut milk dressing) that give special sensation when you eat it.
Finish the day with leather puppet shadow show at sonobudoyo museum. This performance art has been more than five centuries of age. Presenting the story of Ramayana and Mahabharata, this overnight performance serves the proper space to spend the night, reflect and understand Javanese life philosophy.

Yogyakarta is a city where traditional and modern merge into one. On one side there are many city hotels and other high buildings, but on the other side you can feel the magnificent atmosphere of the ancient buildings by visiting Borobudur and Prambanan Temples. The combination between modern and history blends perfectly well and allows tourists to enjoy both.Find More Holidays
